Welcome to the Cognitive Aging & Neuropsychological Equity (CANE) Lab
Brain Health for All.
The Cognitive Aging & Neuropsychological Equity Lab at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, engages communities to support equitable standards of diagnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative disorders. Our research prioritizes diverse groups to answer important questions about normal aging and disease development. We utilize neuropsychological assessment, community-based participatory research, collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues, and multi-method approaches to improve cognitive measurement and identify and reduce health disparities in aging.
Our Mission
To advance brain health for all by improving measurement of cognitive outcomes, particularly for historically underrepresented and marginalized communities.
Our Vision
A future where brain health for all is realized. Where cognitive aging and neurodegenerative disorders are understood, diagnosed, and treated equitably across all populations, and where science reflects and serves the diversity of our society.
Our Values
Equity & Inclusion
We believe brain health for all begins with representation and respect for communities historically excluded from research and care.
Scientific Rigor
We commit to research excellence that upholds accuracy, transparency, and meaningful application.

We work with communities to promote trust and shared benefit.
Cultural Responsiveness
We develop and promote tools and practices that capture diverse experiences, and we tailor our approach to the needs and priorities of our partners and participants.
Innovation & Influence
We pursue progress that moves us closer to brain health for all by transforming assessment, advocacy, and care.
