Stacey Moeller, MSc

Graduate Assistant Department of Psychology

Stacey Moeller joined the CANE Lab in Fall 2020 as a Clinical Psychology graduate student. She is excited to connect with the Las Vegas community and empower adults living with dementia through outreach and research. Stacey studies the influence of psychosocial and environmental factors (such as race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, and trauma) on neurodegenerative disease processes. Prior to joining the CANE lab, she conducted research at the Mesulam Center for Cognitive Neurology and Alzheimer’s Disease, investigating the rare dementia syndrome Primary Progressive Aphasia. She also has experience working with adults with stroke, chronic medical problems, and severe mental illness. Stacey has a BA in Psychology from Trinity International University and a MSc in Clinical and Developmental Neuropsychology from Bournemouth University.

Katie Singsank, BA

Graduate Assistant Department of Psychology

Katie Singsank joined the CANE Lab in Fall 2022 as a Clinical Psychology Graduate Student. Prior to joining the CANE Lab, Katie graduated with a BA in Psychology and Interdisciplinary Emphasis in Neuroscience from the University of Puget Sound and has spent the last 6 years working full-time in research. Mostly recently, Katie was Lab Manager of the University of Washington Department of Rehabilitation Medicine’s Research on Aging, Disability, and Resilience (RADAR) Lab under the direction of Dr. Ivan Molton. During her time in RADAR Lab, Katie researched community-based behavioral interventions for adults aging with neurodegenerative diseases and long-term physical disabilities. Katie is passionate about aging research and is interested in exploring how improving access to care in underserved populations, especially rural and medically complex, affects neurodegenerative disease progression.

Myjae Maloy-Robertson, BS

Graduate Assistant Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program

Myjae Maloy-Robertson is a student in the Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Ph.D. program. She is co-mentored by Dr. Samantha John in the CANE Lab and Dr. Thessa Hilgenkamp in the CARE Lab. Her main research interest is allostatic load (physiological dysregulation) and cognition in minority populations. She is also interested in the relationship between exercise and cognition. Her past research has focused on exploring neuropsychological aspects relating to social behavior in humans. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Behavioral Neuroscience at the University of Kansas in May of 2022 and is a proud member of the Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program. Myjae joined the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in August of 2022 and is excited to expand her knowledge in neuroscience and exercise physiology within the Las Vegas community.

Grace Goodwin, MS

Graduate Assistant Department of Psychology

Grace Goodwin joined the CANE Lab in Spring 2023 as a Clinical Psychology doctoral student. Grace was previously in the Neuropsychology Research Program under Dr. Daniel Allen and conducted research on sport-related concussion. Her master’s thesis examined the network structure of cognitive abilities, influential cognitive abilities within those networks, and the way in which cognitive networks change following SRC. Currently, Grace is interested in the association between neuropsychiatric symptoms and neuropsychological performance in neurodegenerative diseases. Grace has a BA in Psychology and Dance from Loyola Marymount University, an MS in Psychological Science from University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign, and an MA in Clinical Psychology from UNLV. Her twitter is @gracejgoodwin.

Kimberly Cobos, MS

Community Engagement Specialist

Kimberly Cobos joined the Cognitive Aging Neuropsychological Equity Lab as a Community Engagement Specialist in the Fall of 2024. She is passionate about promoting brain health equity and cultural neuropsychology, particularly among Latinx/Hispanic communities. Before joining the CANE lab, she conducted research and administered neuropsychological assessments for the geriatric population at the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. She also has experience working with older adults and assisting in the establishment of a Spanish-language testing clinic within the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. Kimberly holds a BA in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, an MS in Psychology from Grand Canyon University, and a continuing education certification in Spanish Medical Interpreting from UNLV. In the future, she aims to apply her experience and educational knowledge to pursue a graduate degree to continue assisting her local communities.

McKenna Webb, BA

Research Assistant Department of Brain Health

McKenna Webb recently graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in neuroscience. She joined the CANE lab in January 2024 as a research assistant due to her interest in cognition, aging, and neuropsychological assessment. As an undergraduate, McKenna was the President of UNLV Psi Chi, President of Psychology Club, and a member of the Neuroscience Undergraduate Research Organization (NURO). With experience working as Front Desk Lead for the POWER and CHARGE UP programs offered at UNLV PRACTICE, she found her passion for neuropsychological topics and now works for the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health as a psychometrist.

Amy Nguyen, BS

Past Research Assistant School of Life Sciences

Amy Nguyen joined the CANE Lab in Fall 2020 as a Biological Sciences undergraduate student with a concentration in pre-professional studies. She was passionate about achieving health equity and promoting healthcare accessibility across populations. Outside of the CANE lab, she lead several UNLV student organizations, including the Life Science Student Association, which provides Biological Sciences and Biochemistry undergraduates with mentorship from upperclassmen and professionals in the field of Biology, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, a non-profit honor society that hosts networking events, social gatherings, and community service projects. Amy dreamt of positively influencing underserved communities through healthcare within the United States and hoped to become a family medicine physician.

Angela Terencio, BS

Past Research Volunteer School of Integrated Health Sciences

Angela Terencio joined the CANE Lab in Spring 2021 as an Occupational Therapy graduate student. Curious about community-based research, she was thrilled to investigate and promote health equity and inclusivity among underserved minority populations. Prior to joining the CANE Lab, Angela gained research experience through co-writing three peer-reviewed public health articles that examined physical activity, sociodemographic determinants, sports, and health behaviors. In the past, she volunteered at the UNLV Community Clinic and served as a Legislative, Advocacy, and Leadership intern with the Nevada Occupational Therapy Association (NOTA). She was interested in learning more about neurocognitive disorders among the older adult population within the Las Vegas community. Angela earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and a minor in Spanish from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Denise Tanner, BS

Past Lab Manager

Denise Tanner joined the CANE Lab in Spring of 2021 after graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Brigham Young University. During the time she was affiliated with Brigham Young University, Denise was part of the Clinical Cognitive Neuroscience and Neuropsychology Laboratory, Dr. Bruce Brown's Laboratory. Denise was deeply interested in uncovering the source of neurodegenerative disorders in order to find ways to prevent them, and educate not only practitioners but also laypeople on their prevention and potential treatments.

Angel Gudino

Past Research Volunteer Department of Psychology

Angel Gudino joined the CANE lab in fall of 2021 as a student with a Psychology major undergraduate and a minor in Neuroscience. He was very excited to be able to help the older adult population and hoped that in the future, he would continue to help those when they need it the most. Angel first attended Dixie State University before transferring to UNLV, where he participated in many activities and attended classes that helped him learn many things like cadaver dissection class, the student social club, the future BIO club, the National Society of Leadership and Success, and many more things which will come in handy one day. He is originally from Mexico, where he was born and raised, and chose to attend the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in hopes of starting a great life and getting to know the marvelous study of the brain and its behavior within the local community.

Jasmine Mortero

Past Research Volunteer School of Life Sciences

Jasmine joined the CANE lab in the fall of 2022. She is a recent University of Nevada, Las Vegas after earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. During her undergraduate years, she was involved with the American Medical Women's Association and the Honors College. Her involvements outside of campus included the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center, where she shadowed neurology specialists, various clinics such as the Good Samaritan and the Ackerman Center for Autism, as well as Infinity Hospice Care, where she served as a volunteer and an intern. Jasmine has worked at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine within the Graduate Medical Education Department and the Women's Research Institute of Nevada. She aims to earn a Masters degree in Medical Health Sciences at Touro University Nevada due to her extreme passionate about medicine and her Las Vegas community and is pursuing a career as a physician to continue serving the community.
